Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - June 8, 2025: On the morning of June 6, BOPE (military police) killed Herus Guimarães Mendes during a celebration of festa junina in the favela of Santo Amaro. On June 8, thousands of people demonstrated in Catete, Rio de Janeiro to protest the murder of Herus as well as the many other innocent favela residents that have been killed by police over the years.
